Rodin is famous for Thinker, Burghers of Calais, Monument to Balzac, or Gates of Hell and widely considered the father of modern sculpture. As he created this piece in his best days, it is a significant masterpiece just like him with its twisting pose and thick body. He had a deep connection with Japan and gave a great influence on Japanese modern sculpture through the exchanges with Shirakaba School artists.
