Phillip King (1934-)
Phillip King is one of the representative sculptors of British contemporary sculpture. The typical characteristics of his works are the eloquent and passionate motion and the composition like a stage drama. In this piece such style of him is fully shown. The massive geometric parts and the rough-planed materials successfully clarify the motif "fire" and add power and tension to the work.
Phillip King
Born in Tunis, Tunisia, North Africa in 1934. He learned at Cambridge University and St. Martins School of Art. Then he taught sculpture at St. Martins for 20 years. Among his students are those representative artists of British contemporary art as Gilbert & George, Richard Long, Bruce McLean.
