Mona Liza, Adam and Eve, virile knights, animals, still-lifes-whatever he paints, it will be deformed fat and round. Among postwar representational painters, there is scarcely any artist whose style is so outstanding as Botero's. In the same manner, this piece is more voluptuous, more humorous and warmer than the nude women of any other sculptors. It means the same style is adopted from painting to sculpture.

Ballerina /Fernando Botero

Fernando Botero

He is a painter born in Colombia, South America in 1932. Having learned at Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Madrid, he learned fresco technique in Florence. It is typical Botero's style to deform a figure bigger and fatter. When objects are inflated, they come to look humorous and tender enough to make people feel at ease.
