This piece depicts a young woman of Beaujolais, which is famous for wine, with the smart figure carrying bunches of grapes on her head. Naoki Tominaga is known for his gorgeous and amiable style. This small piece which he created in his later years shows such characteristics well.

Naoki Tominaga

Born in Nagasaki in 1913. After graduating from Tokyo Fine Arts School (present Tokyo University of the Arts), he played an active part mainly in Nitten Exhibition. He learned under Seibo Kitamura and created a lot of human statues in warm and friendly style. He also made large works such as outdoor monuments. In 1989 he was awarded the Order of Culture.
